Profile and background
Kasper Kelm Demant is an expert in tax law with extensive experience in advising and representing clients in tax cases at all levels, including tax authorities, the Tax Appeals Agency, the Tax Council, tax appeal boards, the National Tax Tribunal, the Parliamentary Ombudsman, the courts, and the European Court of Justice.

Kasper is known for his strategic and pragmatic approach to tax cases, assisting both individuals and businesses with any matter arising from tax law, including income tax cases as well as cases involving VAT, customs duties, excise duties, etc. Kasper’s approach to tax cases involves a thorough examination of all relevant aspects to ensure that the right strategy is laid out and continuously adjusted throughout the case.

Kasper assists his clients from the initial contact with the tax authorities and throughout the appeal and/or court process. He ensures that clients have a clear understanding of the case’s implications and advises them on all aspects of the case, including options for cost reimbursement and payment deferral.

In addition to his extensive practical experience in handling tax cases, Kasper has been an external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen since 2014. He has contributed to shaping and teaching tax law courses, particularly the Advanced Tax Law course. Besides university teaching, Kasper conducts courses for accountants and lawyers on tax law topics and oversees the internal training of lawyers in tax law matters.

Kasper is also an editor of the Karnov Law Collection, where he actively contributes to the development of notes on tax legislation and is responsible for ensuring that Karnov’s notes on the Tax Assessment Act are updated and accurate in accordance with the latest legislation and practice in the field.

  • Represented the taxpayer company in one of the beneficial owner cases at the European Court of Justice
  • Represented the taxpayer in the principal day care case brought by the Ministry of Taxation, UfR 2017.552 H
  • Represented the taxpayers in the principal driver cases regarding the reopening of preliminary assessments, which the National Tax Tribunal reopened following a request from the Ombudsman
  • Assisted a Luxembourgish securitization company in obtaining the principal binding ruling, SKM2015.592.SR
